For the fourth time, NEATE News was selected as a newsletter of excellence in NCTE's annual Affiliiate Newsletter of Excellence Award contest. We will be officially recognized at the NCTE Affiliate Breakfast in Boston in November.

Board Member Rob Ford's article - "Adventures in Gamification and Personalized Learning: A Case Study in Game-Based Course Design" - was chosen to receive the 2022 English Leadership Quarterly Best Article Award. The award is one of the Conference on English Leadership’s highest honors.

At the 27th New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards (the "Edies"), longtime NEATE champion, Ann Garland West, received the "Doris Barnes Retired Educator Lifetime Achievement Award." This award was created to honor a retired teacher who has continued to work for the betterment of public education after retirement. You can read her remarks on the occasion here. 

For the third year in a row, our website was selected for the NCTE Website of Excellence Award. The award "recognizes [affiliate] websites that have high-quality content, easy navigation ... and interactive abilities." 

Cathy Nicastro is NEATE's representative for NCTE's High School Teacher of Excellence Award! She will be officially recognized with at the Secondary Section Luncheon during this year's NCTE Annual Convention.  

Past-President Dr. Kimberly Parker is being awarded the 2020 NCTE Outstanding Educator in English Language Arts. The Elementary Section Steering Committee selected Dr. Kim Parker and Dr. Gloria Boutte as co-awardees, stating that "uniting these two outstanding educators who work in school, community and university spheres uniquely reflects the vision and mission of NCTE and our section." 

Board Member Rob Ford is being awarded the 2020 Conference on English Leadership Innovative Leadership Award! The award recognizes an early or mid-career leader and NCTE member who has shown innovative leadership at the local, regional, and/or national level or for innovative approaches to teaching and/or professional development through new and progressive methods and delivery models.

Our journal, The Leaflet, has been named a recipient of NCTE's 2020 Affiliate Journal of Excellence Award. Each year NCTE recognizes journals and their editors for representing excellence in their publications. Congratulations to our editor, Dr. Mark Fabrizi on this recognition. 

The Connecticut State Colleges and System’s Board of Regents’ (BOR) awarded our journal editor, Dr. Mark Fabrizi, an associate professor of education at Eastern Connecticut State University, the BOR Teaching Award. More details can be found here.
